Bad Dinosaur: Problem Solving with Purpose

This year, Bad Dinosaur turned 12 – marking over a decade of building digital products that deliver real results. From day one, their mission has been clear: to get things done. As a product-led agency, they’ve supported the launch of more than 100 startups, and continue to take pride in being agile, transparent, and highly collaborative in how we work.

Bad Dinosaur share their award-nominated work and ethos.

At Bad Dinosaur we operate without the inefficiencies often found in larger agencies. We focus on realistic timelines, clear costs, and building meaningful partnerships with our clients. Over the past year, we’ve not only developed apps and tools for a wide range of organisations but have also introduced a new internal system and two AI-powered features to streamline our processes and improve the client experience. For us, using technology to work smarter and more efficiently is key.

A Focus on Impact

While we remain proudly sector-agnostic, the team has become increasingly engaged in the positive impact space. We’ve worked on exciting and meaningful projects across health tech, sustainability, education, and the third sector – areas where our work can truly make a difference.

Accessibility is another area we’re passionate about. We believe digital products should be inclusive by default, and it’s been rewarding to see our designer working toward an accessibility accreditation, driven by real-world project experience and a deep understanding of the importance of accessible design.

Collaboration at the Core

What motivates us most is helping our clients turn ideas into reality. We view every engagement as a partnership, often staying involved well beyond the initial launch; whether that means supporting future phases, iterating on existing features, or simply championing their success.

It’s been a proud moment this year to see two of our clients shortlisted for tech awards themselves. It reinforces the value of building strong relationships and working collaboratively to solve real-world challenges – whether through internal systems or customer-facing applications.

A Team That Punches Above Its Weight

Based in Scotland, we’re a small team with big ambitions. We’re hands-on, committed, and work with purpose. Being shortlisted for Best Small Agency of the Year is a huge honour and being the only Scottish agency in this category makes it even more meaningful.

Behind every project, there’s a team that genuinely cares. We invest in understanding our clients, their challenges, and their goals. This recognition is not just a celebration of our work, it’s a testament to the relationships we’ve built and the values we share.

Culture Comes First

Internally, we’ve created an environment that puts people first. Hybrid working, shared bonuses, near-zero staff turnover, and a gender-balanced team are all part of how we operate. These aren’t just nice-to-haves – they’re the foundation of how we deliver high-quality, impactful work.

Being small allows us to stay nimble, move quickly, and remain close to the things that matter most – our clients, our team, and the quality of our output.

What the Team Had to Say

Hannah, Project Manager & Product Owner:

“It’s so awesome to get recognition like this. As a small agency in Scotland, it can sometimes feel like you’re under the radar – even when you’re working on global projects. So this means a lot.”

Our MD Kyle summed it up best – “from the chaos of COVID and the rush to digitise everything, to the trickier post-pandemic economic climate, we’ve stayed resilient. That’s thanks to great people and great projects. Being recognised at a national level is a meaningful milestone for all of us.”

We’re proud of what we’ve built. We’re proud of the way we work. And we’re so excited to be finalists for Best Small Agency of the Year. Roll on September – we’re keeping everything crossed!
