Making B2B Punk Again: Rooster Punk’s Bold Move to Humanize Marketing

In a world where B2B marketing often feels bland and uninspiring, Rooster Punk stands out as a beacon of creativity, emotion, and purpose. Founded in 2013, Rooster Punk was born out of a desire to humanize B2B marketing—infusing it with the heart, humanity, and humor that so often gets lost in the corporate world. Fast forward to today, and our mission has not only resonated with clients across a broad spectrum of industries but has also earned us a nomination for the prestigious “B2B Small Agency of the Year” at the UK Agency Awards.

This nomination is more than just a feather in our cap; it’s a validation of the unique approach we’ve been championing for over a decade. Our work isn’t just about generating leads or hitting KPIs—it’s about creating emotional connections, sparking excitement, and delivering the unexpected. Because at the end of the day, people are still people, whether they’re making decisions at home or in the boardroom.

A Year of Achievements and Growth

2024 has been a monumental year for Rooster Punk. One of our key objectives was to establish a permanent home for our agency—a place that truly reflects our character and offers stability for our team. After years of working in temporary spaces and navigating the remote-working era of the pandemic, we finally set down roots in our quirky new Coop in Holborn. This new space isn’t just an office; it’s a hub for creativity, collaboration, and community. To foster this sense of community, we’ve introduced weekly social events that help our team get to know each other and explore the vibrant local area.

But our commitment to our team goes beyond just providing a cool office space. We understand the importance of flexibility in today’s work environment, which is why we’ve introduced our ‘Free Range Working’ scheme. This initiative allows our team members—affectionately known as Roosters—to work from wherever they feel most inspired, whether that’s at our Coop, from home, or even abroad. So far,
our Roosters have taken advantage of this scheme to work from locations as diverse as Ireland, France, and South Africa. This flexibility has not only boosted productivity but also significantly enhanced our team’s wellbeing, with our monthly staff wellbeing scores averaging an impressive 4 out of 5.

Award-Winning Creativity

Our nomination for “B2B Small Agency of the Year” is largely due to the outstanding creative work we’ve delivered for our clients. Take, for example, our campaign for Allica Bank, a new entrant in the financial services sector. Allica wanted to make a big splash with its first-ever marketing campaign, and we were
up to the challenge. Our solution? We took their bright orange logo graphic and turned it into that most traditional of British banking symbols—a bowler hat. This simple yet effective visual metaphor helped convey both a sense of newness and a nod to old-fashioned values. Despite a modest media spend, the campaign was a resounding success, doubling the rate of savings account openings and earning Allica the title of the UK’s fastest-growing fintech by Deloitte.

Another standout project was our work with Elavon, a payments provider looking to break into the UK and Ireland SME market. Elavon’s EPOS terminals offer a plethora of features, but we discovered that what really mattered to small business owners was reliability. To convey this, we partnered with The Beatbox Collective, world champion beatboxers, to create a dynamic advert set in a bustling coffee shop. The ad’s catchy beatbox soundtrack perfectly encapsulated the idea that with Elavon, businesses would never miss a beat—no matter how busy they got. The campaign not only captured attention but also positioned Elavon as a key player in the market.

A Force for Good

At Rooster Punk, we believe that business can and should be a force for good. This belief is woven into the fabric of everything we do, from the way we treat our employees to the work we do for our clients and the impact we strive to make on the world. In 2024, we celebrated two years of partnership with the climate platform Ecologi, during which we planted over 4,700 trees and supported projects that prevented nearly 365 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions. This achievement is just one step on our journey toward B Corp Certification, a goal we are deeply committed to.

Our dedication to doing good extends to the way we navigate challenges as well. The economic downturn of recent years has been brutal for marketing agencies, with many forced to make difficult decisions about staffing and budgets. While others were reducing headcount, we managed to keep our team intact by adding virtual support for key functions like administration, marketing, and HR. This flexibility allowed us to weather the storm while continuing to deliver top-notch service to our clients. We’re proud to say that we ended 2023 with the same number of permanent employees as we started, all while securing 17 new client projects to fill any gaps left by budget cuts.

Why This Award Matters

Being nominated for “B2B Small Agency of the Year” is a tremendous honor for Rooster Punk, and it’s a testament to the hard work and passion that our entire team pours into every project. But don’t just take our word for it—here’s what some of our clients have to say:

“I would describe them as relationship-driven storytellers who put their hearts
and soul into B2B marketing.”

“We work with multiple agencies, but none of them really challenge us. [Rooster
Punk] triggers you to look at things differently… Other agencies were not that
courageous.”

“What stands out and why we decided to work with them is their mission to
humanize B2B… It resonates with me. I don’t want it to be boring; I don’t want my
career to be associated with dull and same old. It fits into the rebel nature I have
in me and the ambition to do good creative standout marketing.”

These testimonials capture the essence of what makes Rooster Punk unique.
We’re not just another B2B marketing agency; we’re a team of passionate rebels
on a mission to change the industry for the better. Our focus on creativity,
humanity, and doing good sets us apart and drives us to achieve results that
exceed our clients’ expectations.

As we look forward to the UK Agency Awards, we’re filled with excitement and
gratitude. This nomination is a milestone on our journey, and it inspires us to
continue pushing the boundaries of what B2B marketing can be. Here’s to a future
filled with more heart, more creativity, and more stories that truly connect.
